The Story of Alberto

Mi nombre es Alberto García y soy la tercera generación de una familia de panaderos españoles. Hace muchos años, mi abuelo Natalio y mi abuela Concepción, invirtieron los ahorros de toda su vida en su sueño de abrir una panadería.

Mi abuelo se formó como pastelero en un lugar muy especial (famoso por sus pasteles en forma de caracola): la isla de Mallorca frente a la costa de España. Como nunca antes había volado, tomó la audaz decisión de hacer las maletas y trasladar a su familia a ‘la Isla Bonita’, junto a las aguas turquesas del Mediterráneo, para poder aprender y entrenar. Mientras vivía en Mallorca, descubrió un pequeño rincón en la playa, conocido como Cala Millor, que se convirtió en su lugar apartado favorito en la isla. Fue en los años 70 cuando tuvo la idea de regresar a Madrid para abrir su primera panadería española, Cala Millor.

Years later, his son-in-law, my father, José took over the business and with great tenacity, hard work and effort created what today is one of the most recognized bakeries in Spain, with 5 locations throughout Madrid. Half a century later, as a son and grandson, I have crossed the ocean to fulfill another dream…to bring Cala Millor to America.

I leave my homeland, my friends and my roots and look forward to a new adventure so that I can share with you, a taste of home. I bring the experience accumulated over decades working side by side with my family, and the appreciation for hard work with the highest standards, instilled by the generations before me.
